Online event offers help to struggling AZ homeowners

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Valley's housing market is coming around, but there are still a lot of struggling homeowners.

And if you happen to be one of them, help is on the way.

A homeowner assistance program kicked off Tuesday, allowing folks to get the help they need from the comfort of their own home.

The Hope Now Alliance has teamed up with a nonprofit counseling agency, Springboard, to target Arizonans and help them keep their homes.

They are offering free online and phone assistance to anyone who wants it, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

"We encourage people to call in that are experiencing delinquencies on their current loan or facing foreclosure," said housing counselor Anika Mendez. "It will also help people needing guidance on short sales or looking for options to refinance, and also people who have rental properties that have an affordability issue."

The following mortgage companies are all participating:

  • Carrington
  • Chase
  • Citibank
  • Nationstar
  • Ocwen
  • Select Portfolio Servicing
  • Seterus
  • SunTrust
  • Wells Fargo
