Police: Woman with kids in tow sneaks drugs to AZ inmate

KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -

A Phoenix woman visiting the Arizona State Prison was arrested Saturday on suspicion of passing drugs to an inmate.

Mohave County sheriff's deputies took 20-year-old Ana Maria Cabezas into custody after prison staff said they saw her pass 40 grams of contraband to a prisoner during visitation at about 11:30 a.m.

A prison sergeant said Cabezas had two children, ages 1 and 3, with her. The children were released to Child Protective Services.

A field test showed some of the contraband positive for methamphetamine and heroin.

The contraband contained four plastic bags containing a dark brown substance, 11 plastic bags containing a brown powdery substance, 10 bags containing a dark brown substance, a plastic bag containing a black sticky substance, 13 smaller plastic bags with black spades and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance.

Cabezas was booked into Mohave County Jail on charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transport dangerous drugs for sale, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, transport narcotic drugs for sale, promoting prison contraband, conveying contraband to a prisoner and two counts of involving minor in drug offense, all felonies.
