SFA soccer season gets better

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - It's been a great season for the Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team, and today it got even better. And it could get even sweeter in the next week. First off the Ladyjacks have claimed their third straight and eighth Southland Conference regular season title. And this afternoon, first year head coach Wally Crittenden was named the SLC coach of the year. In addition, three players were named first team all conference, and one was named second team all SLC. Oh and by the way forward Chelsea Raymond is now the all time school leader in goals scored with 39.

Raymond says, "I racked up some goals freshman year, did a pretty good job my sophomore year so you know this year was more of a finding my identity kind of thing. I worked with the team, I scored some different kind of goals that I usually do and you know I couldn't do it without the team in the long run."

If the Ladyjacks can win this weekend's Southland Conference tournament, they will be headed to the NCAA tourney for the second straight year. That has never happened in SFA history.
