A Lufkin man is in jail, accused of stealing $1,000 from his grandfather's wallet to buy drugs in October.

Curtis Lyndon Cotton III, 29, is charged with state-jail felony theft of elderly.

According to an arrest affidavit, Cotton's uncle told a deputy with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office that his nephew stole $1,000 out of his father's wallet during the week of Oct. 20.

The uncle said he spoke with Cotton on Nov. 2 and Cotton admitted to them that he took the money to buy drugs.

The deputy took a voluntary written statement from Cotton on the same day.

A warrant was obtained for Cotton's arrest on Tuesday. He was arrested Wednesday. Bail has not yet been set for his release.
