3-vehicle wreck near Lufkin's Gaslight Plaza sends 2 to hospital

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Emergency personnel in Lufkin are working to clear athree-car accident that occurred on Frank Ave. Friday morning. Two women weretransported to a local hospital.

The accident occurred in near the Gaslight Plazashopping center on W. Frank. Ave. at approximately 11:45 a.m.

According to Greg McGuire, one of the driversinvolved in the accident, he was driving west on Frank. Ave. in a Honda Elementwhen he was rear-ended by a Ford pickup. A Dodge Dakota rear-ended the pickupfirst, causing it to slam into the back of the Element.

The two women who were transported to a localhospital were in the Dodge Dakota, along with two small children. Both women werecomplaining of neck injuries, and the children were unhurt. The two kids wentto the hospital with the women.

Westbound traffic on W. Frank Ave. was blocked toone lane while emergency personnel worked to clear the wreck. The driver of theDodge Dakota will be issued a citation for failure to control speed.
