Murfreesboro gas station fire ruled as accidental

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A fire at a gas station in Murfreesboro has been ruled as accidental.

Firefighters could see light smoke coming from the University BP on Middle Tennessee Boulevard when they responded just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

When crews checked it out with a thermal imaging camera, they found a small fire in the attic in the front of the building.

Officials say they were able to extinguish the fire quickly as soon as it was located.

The cause is unknown at this time, but Assistant Fire Marshal Tracy Summar says it appears to have been electrical in nature, though they will need further testing to determine this for sure.

No one was injured in the fire.

The business will be closed until further notice while repairs are made.
