SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Center man died in a two-vehicle wreck after running head-on into a wrecker on State Highway 7 in Shelby County Tuesday morning.

Camilo Barron-Torres, 34, died at 10:30 a.m. at the scene, located on Highway 7, 2.5 miles northeast of Center.

According to the DPS report, Barron-Torres was driving a 2001 Ford F150 east on Highway 7 at 9:50 a.m. and was passing another vehicle when he drove head-on into a 2011 Peterbilt wrecker, driven by Matthew Cody Smith, of Joaquin. Barron-Torres' pickup ignited and burned on the scene. Smith's wrecker overturned, but he was not injured.

Barron-Torres' passenger, Laticia Acuna, 18, of Center, is listed in critical condition with unknown injuries at a Tyler hospital.

It is not known if Barron-Torres was wearing a seatbelt. Acuna was not wearing one.
