NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A former Nacogdoches insurance agent pleaded guilty to two drug charges, accepting a probation sentence Thursday morning.
Bradley Allen Fontenot, 35, will serve 10 years of a deferred adjudication sentence, meaning if he successfully finishes probation, his record will be wiped clean of any felonies.
Nacogdoches police arrested Fontenot in April 2012 after an investigation into him using cocaine and GHB, which is commonly referred to as the date rape drug.
Fontenot was well-known around Nacogdoches for his State Farm Insurance agency, which he advertised on several billboards before his arrest.
His attorney, John Heath Jr., said the state offered the plea agreement to Fontenot Wednesday night. Heath had been preparing for a suppression of evidence hearing on Thursday.
Heath said he feels confident that Fontenot has been and will continue to work hard to overcome his drug addiction.
District Judge Campbell Cox approved the plea agreement.
