Angelina County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 20-year-old Zavalla man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and getting her pregnant.
Nicholas Wayne Odom was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child on Nov. 14. He posted a bail of $75,000 and was released from jail a day later.
According to the arrest affidavit East Texas News obtained Tuesday, the alleged sexual assault took place at a residence in the 200 block of Saphire Road in Angelina County on July 7. Odom went to the Lufkin Police Department and asked to talk to an officer about a sexual assault.
The 14-year-old victim was diagnosed as being pregnant on Sept. 10, the affidavit stated. According to the arrest affidavit, that diagnosis was verified through biolological and ultrasound techniques.
During a forensic interview, the victim said on or about the week of July 4, Odom entered her bedroom, removed her pants, and sexually assaulted her in such a forceful way that it caused her head to hit the wall in a painful manner.
The affidavit stated that the date that the girl gave for the sexual assault was consistent with the gestational age of the baby visible in the ultrasound.
