Thieves smash car windows, steal thousands at Fallen Timbers

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Half a dozen people left businesses at The Shops at Fallen Timbers on Sunday evening to find their car windows had been bashed in, and items stolen from their vehicles.

Maumee Police say thieves smashed the windows of six cars in the shopping center's parking lot, most of which belonged to employees of Granite City Food and Brewery.

One victim lost more than $2,000. Others will have to replace credit and debit cards. Thieves even took asthma medication from one vehicle.

"People are trying to come get stuff for their family and having someone come in and steal stuff from their cars, it's really scary for the community - and this is good community, so I don't understand why people would be doing that kind of stuff," said Fallen Timbers shopper Breanna Gallup.

Maumee Police say the investigation into the break-ins is ongoing.
