Volunteers needed for Main Street's Cowboy themed Christmas parade

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Santa's about to get a little country this year at the annual Main Street Christmas Parade set for 6 p.m. on Monday, December 2.

This year's theme is cowboy Christmas and on top of Cowboy boots and big gallon hats, there is a rumored swamp people float.

Barbara Thompson, the Director for Main Street, says they have 80 vendors signed up for the parade but she expects nearly 100 floats to show up. There is also going to be a new route this year.

"The route will start or gather behind the Civic Center like it always does and then travel all the way down First Street, then turn right onto Jackson Street and then take another right on Angelina," Thompson said.

Main Street is still looking volunteers and says if anyone wants to sign up to participate they can call the Main Street office at (936) 633-0205. You can also go to the City of Lufkin web site at cityoflufkin.com to fill out an application.
