DPS says multiple accidents on I-20, warns drivers to slow down

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Multiple accidents have occurred on I-20 in the past hour, and DPS officials warn drivers to slow down and pay attention so they are not involved in accidents, themselves.

Trooper Jean Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety said that there are three accidents being responded to in Gregg County at the moment, and at least one in Smith County.

The accidents in Gregg County are at exit 592 eastbound, exit 594 westbound, and the worst is at 591 eastbound. where a car was on fire.

EMS and fire crews  responded to the scene of the car on fire. DPS says there were no injuries or fatalities. Traffic was extremely congested but is beginning to clear up. Proceed wit caution.

In Smith County, an accident is reported at the Hwy 69 exit. Please use caution in the area.

Trooper Dark reminds all drivers to use caution when traveling in rainy weather: slow down, maintain plenty of distance between your car and the car in front of you, do not use your cruise control, and pay attention.
