Kurth Library offering amnesty this holiday season

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

If you are worried about an unpaidfine on a library book, the Kurth Memorial Public Library says don't worry, becausethey are giving out a special Christmas present.

The library is offering aspecial Christmas time amnesty on any library books fines that one might have.The library says they do this hoping to bring people back into the library andwithout being a scrooge.

"It's a good early Christmaspresent and a way to get them in the library, Director Loraine Simoneau said.

The library says while youare in returning the books, patrons can enjoy some great holiday decorationsincluding a sleigh and a 16 ft. tall Christmas tree.

 How to get amnesty:

1.    By returningany overdue materials (undamaged and in good condition), no matter how old.Patron's should bring in a current driver's license or current utility bill sothat we can update their library card.

2.    By coming into renew their library cards... no matter how long it's been. Please bring in acurrent driver's license  or current utility bill.

3.    Even withdamaged or lost materials patrons can take advantage of this amnesty. For eachdamaged or lost item a patron pays for we will waive the overdue and processingfees.
