LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (RNN) - LSU was down only a point at the half but fought back in the second, beating Butler 70-68 in overtime to earn third place in the Old Spice Classic on Sunday.
The Tigers (5-2) led the Bulldogs (5-2) in field goals, making 29-of-64 compared to Butler's 22-of-65. But the Bulldogs made 75 percent of their 20 free-throws compared to LSU's 7-of-12. Butler also made 9-of-23 3-pointers, while the Tigers made only five of their 14 attempts.
Johnny O'Bryant III led LSU with 17 points and eight rebounds and made the last three points in overtime.
The Tigers took third place out of eight in the Old Spice Classic after defeating Saint Joseph's in the opening round, losing to No. 21 Memphis in the second round and then defeating Butler in the final round.
LSU gets some time off before hosting Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, Dec. 14.
