Lufkin ISD to drop into new 5A

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Texas University Interscholastic League has released the cutoff numbers for the 2014-2016 season, confirming that Lufkin ISD will drop to the new Class 5A.

The new Class 5A represents the old 4A. There are now six classes, as six-man football is now labeled as Class A.

School officials at Lufkin ISD confirmed the enrollment at the school is at 2,088, below the 6A cutoff number of 2,100.
