Many East Texas schools to be shuffled by UIL realignment

(KLTV) - The University Interscholastic League announced the addition of a new conference Monday, as well as the realignment cutoff numbers that will determine where teams will stand in February 2014. A new 6A conference will be added beginning with the 2014-2015 school year.

Here is how East Texas schools will be aligned under the new conference cutoff numbers:
  • Robert E Lee High School will move from 5A to the newly created 6A.
  • John Tyler High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Longview High School will remain 5A.
  • Jacksonville High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Lindale High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Whitehouse High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Athens High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Kilgore High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Chapel Hill High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Bullard High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Pine Tree High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Gilmer High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Spring Hill High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Gladewater High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Ore City High School will remain 2A.
  • New Diana High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Union Grove High School will remain at 2A.
  • Hallsville High School will move from 4A to 5A. 
  • Marshall High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Mt. Pleasant High School will move from 4A to 5A.
  • Mineola High School will remain 3A.
  • Van High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Sulphur Springs High School will move from 4A to 5A. 
  • Jefferson High School will move from 2A to 3A. 
  • Henderson High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Palestine High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Rusk High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • Pittsburg High School will move from 3A to 4A. 
  • Tatum High School will move from 2A to 4A.
  • Carthage High School will move from 3A to 4A.
  • White Oak High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Eustace High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Grand Saline High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Malakoff High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Quitman High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Winnsboro High School will move from 2A to 3A.

  • Como-Pickton High School will remain 2A. 
  • Edgewood High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Westwood High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • DeKalb High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Elysian Fields High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Linden-Kildare High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Paul Pewitt High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Waskom High School will move from 2A to 3A.
  • Beckville High School will move from 1A to 2A.
  • Big Sandy High School will move from 1A to 2A.
  • Harleton High School will move from 1A to 2A.
  • Joaquin High School will move from 1A to 3A.
  • Overton High School will move from 1A to 2A.
  • Union Hill will remain 1A.
  • Mt. Enterprise High School will move from 1A to 2A.
  • Troup High School will move from 2A to 3A.
New conference cutoff numbers:
  • 6A: 2,100+
  • 5A: 1,060-2,099
  • 4A: 465-1,059
  • 3A: 220-464
  • 2A: 105-219
  • 1A: 104.9 and under  

More districts will continued to be added to our list of realignments.

The UIL will use enrollment data from October 2013. That data has only been released on a district level.
