LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A 1996 graduate of Hudson High School died when the small plane he was piloting crashed in Colorado Friday evening.

Fred McKee, the sheriff of Delta County, Colorado, said the crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. After an airplane was reported overdue, a man went looking for his plane and found it crashed 2.5 miles northeast of Blake Airfield in Delta County.

Jason Cook, of Montrose, Colorado, was the only person killed in the crash. Mary Ann Whiteker, the superintendent of Hudson ISD, confirmed that Cook graduated from Hudson High School in 1996.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
