Alleged sex offender captured in Lufkin after tip to Sheriff's office

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

According to Angelina Co. Sheriff, Greg Sanches, Richard David Simmons, 41, of Lufkin has been arrested after an anonymous tip was called into the sheriff's office.

Simmons was wanted on a felony warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

According to a bulletin on the Crime Stoppers of Lufkin Website, Richard David Simmons, 41, of Lufkin, was seen driving a blue 2004 Honda two-door sedan displaying the Texas license plate CX9L754.

According to the Angelina County Website, Simmons is still on probation. He pleaded guilty to a felony assault-family violence charge on Sept. 1, 2012, and received a sentence of 10 years probation.

Sanches told the East Texas News that Simmons surrendered without resistance.
