Nacogdoches PD: Woman stabbed husband in chest during argument

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 29-year-old woman Tuesday after she allegedly stabbed her common-law husband in the chest following a heated argument.

Maria Doreydi Agustin-Dominguez, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No bail has been set at this time.

According to the police report, NPD officers responded to an intoxication complaint at a house in a trailer park in the 700 block of East Lane Street at approximately 11:36 a.m.

During their investigation, they learned that Agustin-Dominguez had gotten into a verbal argument with her common-law husband. During the dispute, she allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a pair of closed scissors.

When the responding officers asked the couple what had happened, Agustin-Dominguez denied stabbing her common-law husband with the scissors. She told the officers that she merely  had the scissors in her hand when he pushed her toward the door.

According to the arrest report, Agustin-Dominguez and the man gave conflicting stories. In addition, she didn't have any injuries or other physical evidence indicating that she hah been assaulted.

The police report said the man had noticeable minor injuries to his chest.

Agustin-Dominguez was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
