MT. PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -

Marjorie Bernat was a new bride, married to a pilot and  living at Hickham Field, Hawaii, when the Japanese attacked on December 7,1941.

Marjorie's husband Bruce was wounded and after recovery left the island to fight with General McArthur in the Philippines.  She would never see him again.

Marjorie joined the "Women's Air Raid Defense", nicknamed the "shuffleboard Pilots". Established by presidential executive order, the group logged incoming and outgoing flights into the Hawaiian Islands, determined never again to be victims of a sneak attack.
