ETX man jailed for pouring coffee on Longview police officer

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A Longview man is in the Gregg County Jail for attacking a police officer with hot coffee.

Raymond Gately is charged with assault of a public servant. Officers say the assault happened while they were responding to a dispute at a house in the 100 block of North Lane Wells Drive in Longview. 

They say Gately grabbed an officer, poured a cup of coffee on him and hit him in the head with the coffee cup. 

Officers say Gately was tazed and arrested. He is in the Gregg County Jail on $30,000 bond.
