Whitehouse VFD collecting donations for family displaced by Sunday fire

WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) -

The Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department is accepting donations for a Whitehouse family who lost their clothes, Christmas presents and other belongings in a house fire on Sunday afternoon.

According to the neighbors, there were 16 people, including 10 children, in the home on County Road 2173 when it caught fire around 2 p.m. Sunday, all relatives. The family had just finished wrapping their presents when the fire broke out.

The children are ages 2 months (a boy), 2 years (two boys), 3 years (a girl), 4 years (a girl), 6 years (a girl), 7 years (a girl), 10 years (a girl), 11 years (a girl) and 15 years (a boy). Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped of at the Whitehouse Fire Department Central Station on East Main Street next to City Hall twenty-four hours a day, or at Station 2 on Highway 110 South towards Troup, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Here are the clothing sizes needed by the family:

2 month (boy) - 3 month old clothing

2 yr (boy) - 3T clothing, sz 9 shoe

3 yr (girl) - 4T clothing, sz 7 shoe

3 yr (girl) - 4T clothing, sz 9 shoe

5 yr (girl) - 5T clothing, sz 11 shoe

5 yr (girl) - 5T clothing, sz 12 shoe

8 yr (boy) - sz 10/12 clothing, sz 3 shoe

10 yr (girl) - sz 10/12 clothing, sz 8.5 shoe

11 yr (gir) - XL Women's clothing, 9.5 shoe

15 yr (boy) - 32/32 pants, adult L shirts, sz 11.5 shoe

Women:

Pant sizes - 13, 16, 18

Shirt sizes - L and 2XL

Shoe sizes - 7.5, 8, 9

Men:

Pants - 36 and 38

Shirts - L and XL

Shoes - 9.5, 11.5, 12

There has also been a Kendrick Family Fire Relief Fund set up at any Austin Bank location.

The family also needs a temporary place to stay - they have a hotel room until Wednesday through the American Red Cross.

"Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers and donate whatever you can so that they may have a very Merry Christmas," said a post on the Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

Initial investigation revealed the fire may have been caused by an electrical problem with a circuit breaker. The family was leasing the home.
