Lufkin police arrested a man accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend with an ax at her home on Glenn Street Sunday night.

James Garrett Jr., 38, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Glenn Street in regard to a possible burglary. When they arrived, a woman ran out of the home. She was questioned by police and said her boyfriend, Garrett, was trying to attack her with an ax.

She said the altercation started in the home and Garrett started throwing things throughout the home. He then grabbed an ax and said, "I will kill you with this. You don't know who I am."

Police interviewed Garrett, then found the ax in the back of the house in the yard. They then arrested Garrett.
