Judge sentences Jasper man on robberies at Beall's, Broken Egg

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man who stole a woman's purse while she was walking through a parking lot at Another Broken Egg in Lufkin is having to start a 15-year prison sentence.

Prosecuting attorney Layne Thompson said District Judge Barry Bryan sentenced Joseph Wayne Finley Jr., 22, to 15 years in connection to an aggravated robbery case in which he injured a 65-year-old, 12 years on the robbery at Another Broken Egg, 15 years on a burglary charge he committed after the robbery near Another Broken Egg, where he got a change of clothes to aid himself in hiding from police and two years on credit card abuse, for use of the Beall's robbery victim's credit card.

According to the witness, two women were leaving the Another Broken Egg restaurant when Finley and Trent Dion Land, 22, of Newton, reportedly ran up on the two women as they were walking through the parking lot and snatched their purses. The two men were seen fleeing the scene in a silver Honda driven by a female according to Squyres.

According to Squyres, an eye witness followed the alleged purse snatchers. The female driver lost control of the car and drove off the road into a ditch on U.S. 69 south. Finley and Land took off on foot into a nearby wooded area while the driver stayed in the car.

Land accepted a 15-year prison sentence on the charge on May 28.
