Lufkin Salvation Army needs community help to adopt Angels

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Salvation Army Angel Tree program needs your help this Christmas to provide a child or a senior citizen with a gift.

Captain John Branscum says there are more than 80 seniors and between 75 to 80 children who have not been adopted yet.

Also there are 150 children who have been adopted but their gifts have not been dropped off yet.

Branscum says they are running very short this year and will need the giving community of Lufkin to help make this a special Christmas for those the Salvation Army supports.

"There are a lot of families that come to us with 6, 7 kids and they're just barely getting by and Christmas is just an extra burden on mom and dad and they want to provide for their kids so sometimes this is the only Christmas or the only gifts that these kids may receive," said Branscum.

You will find trees with angel tags each representing a child or senior, at Walmart, Lufkin mall or Hobby Lobby.

Unwrapped gifts and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army or the location you picked up your adoption tag..
