An unidentified flammable substance in a Goodyear apartment that was believed to have been used in the manufacture of hallucinogenic drugs forced the evacuations of several units Wednesday night, police said.

A resident at Desert Sage Apartments at Central Avenue and Van Buren Street in Goodyear called police and reported an acidic odor just before 8 p.m.

Officers found the chemical and ordered tenants in eight apartments to evacuate while the Goodyear hazmat crews went to work.

Goodyear police then called the Arizona High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force to investigate what they suspected was a drug lab.

HIDTA investigators confirmed the lab was used to manufacture hallucinogenic drugs and police arrested 21-year-old Joshua Todd Miller, who lives at the apartment.

Miller was booked on charges of dangerous drug possession, possession of equipment for manufacturing and dangerous drug manufacturing.

No other information was readily available.
