Longview officer tenders resignation in wake of drug investigation

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A Longview police officer has tendered his resignation following a drug investigation.

Longview Police Public Information Officer Kristie Brian confirmed that Lt. Mike Satterwhite has resigned his position with the department after over thirty years of service.

According to the Longview Police Department, police, along with the County Organized Drug Enforcement Unit, served a search warrant at Autumnwood Apartments on December 10,2013.

Officers found contraband inside of an apartment at the complex.

The apartment was rented to Officer Satterwhite with the Longview Police Department. The officer was placed on administrative leave, initially, but  he tendered his resignation on December 18, 2013. He has not been charged with any crime at this time.

Donald Glynn Spencer, 27, Satterwhite's roommate, was arrested at the scene for possession of marijuana  <2oz when the search warrant was served. Longview PD confirms that Spencer is not an officer. He was released on $500 surety bond on Dec. 19.
