JASPER, TX (KTRE) - After nearly a year after a man found human remains in a wooded area in Jasper County, DNA tests confirm they were those of a Jasper man.
According to Sheriff Mitchel Newman, the tests confirmed the man is Michael Shane Henson, 37.
Jasper resident John Miller found Henson's skull in January. Investigators found other bones and badly decomposed clothing in the same area.
Newman said the remains did not show any signs of trauma, so a cause of death cannot be determined. He said he is communicating with the anthropologist to see if a cause can be determined.
Newman said Henson's then-wife reported Henson missing on Thanksgiving of 2007.
