LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - On Friday at 6 a.m., the Longview SWAT team executed a search and arrest warrant in rural Smith County in reference to a homicide that occurred earlier this week.

According to the Longview Police Department, 22-year-old Alejandro Garcia Gallegos of Winona was arrested on one charge of murder. With the assistance of Smith County Sheriff's Department, Gallegos was interviewed in reference to his part in a homicide that occurred in the 1100 block of Sabine Street in Longview on or about December 23.

Gallegos was transported to Gregg County Jail. His bond has been set at $500,000.

On Monday, the body of 19-year-old Andres Chavez was found in a wooded area. His body was found next to a vehicle near an oil well. It is believed that he was killed sometime overnight Sunday. Autopsy results revealed Thursday that Chavez died as a result of blunt force trauma.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Longview Police Department.
