NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 32-year-old man after they allegedly found him passed out at a stoplight Tuesday afternoon. When they tried to get the man to put his car in park, he allegedly fled from the scene, and a short pursuit ensued.

Jeffrey Alan Haley, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. His bail has been set at $7,000.

According to the police report, an NPD officer found Haley passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle near the intersection of University Drive and Austin Street at approximately 3:14 a.m. Wednesday. When the officer told Haley to put his vehicle in park and roll down his window, the man allegedly drove off.

A short pursuit ensued, and Haley was stopped and taken into custody a short time later.
