Lufkin's Kurth Library extends amnesty program

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Kurth Memorial Library was supposed tostop their recent amnesty program on Dec. 31, but decided to go ahead and givea little more time on the project and let people with unpaid fines have untilthis weekend to get those fines taken care of.

"Our amnesty has beenvery successful, Library Director Lorraine Simoneau said. "Since we began it inDecember, we have forgiven more than $4,500 in fines and fees."

Patrons wanting to takeadvantage of the offer have until 1 pm on Jan.4.

How to get amnesty:

1. By returning any overdue materials (undamagedand in good condition), no matter how old. Patron's should bring in a currentdriver's license or current utility bill so that we can update their librarycard.

2. By coming in to renew their library matter how long it's been. Please bring in a current driver's license or current utility bill.

3. Even with damaged or lost materials patronscan take advantage of this amnesty. For each damaged or lost item a patron paysfor we will waive the overdue and processing fees.
