Overturned 18-wheeler blocks traffic north of Nacogdoches

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, TXDOT personnel, and emergency personnel are working to clear an overturned 18-wheeler from U.S. Highway 259 on-ramp from U.S. highway 59 just north of Nacogdoches.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to DPS Trooper John Williamson, the driver of an 18-wheeler loaded with power tools took the on-ramp from Highway 59 to Highway 259 going toward Henderson at an unsafe speed, and rolled the tractor-trailer rig over at approximately 10 a.m. Friday morning.

Traffic is being diverted up another on-ramp in the vicinity.

Kathi White, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Transportation, said the on-ramp should be re-opened for traffic by 1 or 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
