NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 52-year-old man after he allegedly told a woman that he was a police officer, so he could gain entry to her home Sunday night.

Lonnie Joe Edwards, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of impersonating a public servant. No bail has been set at this time.

According to the police report, NPD officers responded to a disturbance at a trailer park in the 2400 block of Douglass Road. We they investigated further, they found that Edwards had allegedly identified himself as a police officer to persuade a woman to open the door to him.

When the woman found out that Edwards wasn't a police officer, she told him to leave. Nacogdoches Police officers contacted Edwards at the scene, and he allegedly admitted to the offense.
