NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A 28-year-old Nacogdoches man accepted a plea bargain agreement of 3 years deferred adjudication Wednesday for leaving his 2-year-old son home alone on Dec. 18, 2013.

Howard Terrell Dodd, 28, appeared in Judge Campbell Cox's 145th Judicial District Court for the plea bargain hearing. Dodd was charged with child endangerment.

Deferred adjudication is basically the same thing as probation. The only difference is that if Dodd manages to stay out of trouble for the 3-year period, the criminal charge will dropped from his record.

According to a police report, Dodd left the child in an apartment in the 300 block of Ellington Street. A maintenance man entered the apartment and found the 2-year-old boy unattended in the apartment. The toddler was found playing with toys.

Dodd returned to the scene sometime later and was arrested for child endangerment. Child Protective Services also responded to the scene and released the little boy into his mother's custody.
