Proud of East Texas: The Ezekiel Airship

Even though you won't find The Ezekiel Airship in history books, it did make history in a powered flight in September of 1902, more than a year before the Wright Brothers flew at Kitty Hawk. The Ezekiel Airship was the invention of Reverend Burr ell Cannon, inventor, saw miller and preacher.

Even though the airship flew in 1902, it never flew again. The airship was destroyed on a railroad flat car on its way to the St. Louis Worlds Fair.

A life-size replica of the airship can be seen at the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum in Pittsburgh, Texas.
