ONALASKA, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Onalaska Police Department arrested a 21-year-old man Sunday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
Christopher Robert Alexander, of Onalaska, is still being held in the Polk County Jail on two indecency with a child charges and two sexual assault of a child charges, which are all second-degree felonies. Collectively, his bail has been set at $200,000.
According to the arrest affidavit, a mother contacted the Onalaska PD about her 14-year-old daughter. The girl told the police officers that she had performed sexual acts with several males over the age of 18 over the course of the last few months.
The 14-year-old girl told police that the sexual acts were all consensual, according to the affidavit However, according to Texas criminal law, a child under the age of 17 cannot legally give consent to have sex with an adult.
During the interview, the mother told police that she was unaware of the sex acts being performed by her daughter and was concerned. The mother and her daughter both consented to a SANE exam, and the girl provided a list of the males she had performed sex acts with in the last few months.
The girl told police that she had sex twice with Alexander at his residence in the1900 block of FM 3186 in Onalaska on or about Dec. 29, 2013, the affidavit stated.
At that point, the Onalaska PD officers interviewed Alexander. During the interview, Alexander denied having sex with the girl at his house. When he was asked about his relationship to the girl, he denied knowing and/or talking to the 14-year-old.
However, further investigation revealed that Alexander had been conversing with the girl via Facebook messages for at least a month. The officers also spoke with several witnesses who said they "had reason to believe" the girl and Alexander had sex.
