Man taken to hospital after gun accidentally discharges at Tyler apartment

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A man was injured after he was shot in the ankle while playing with a gun in at Varsity Place Apartments in Tyler.

According to Tyler Police Detective Andy Erbaugh, the man and a friend were playing with the gun when it discharged, striking the man in the left ankle.

The friend then drove the man to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

Officers interviewed the two, who were cooperative, and determined that it was an accident.

No charges will be filed.
