LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A libertarian candidate for governor made a campaign stop in Lufkin Wednesday.

Houstonian, Kathie Glass, who is running for Governor of Texas, stopped by the Courtyard by Marriott to talk with East Texans about why she wants to be the next governor.

Glass hosted a meet-and-greet and presented her plan for Texas independence.

"We get 40% of our Texas budget from Washington and the day is going to come when that's not there anymore so we have to find a way to stand strong and independent fiscally and always and that's why I want to be governor so I can lead this charge to maintain our Texas independence and our sovereignty," said Glass.

Glass will be heading back to Houston for back-to-back campaign events this weekend.
