ELKHART (KLTV) - Authorities have identified the victim and suspect in an alleged murder-suicide that occurred in Elkhart on Wednesday morning.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, 43-year-old Victor Aldaba Salcedo of Jacksonville was served with a capital murder warrant. Victor is accused of murdering his ex-wife, 42-year-old Lorena Salas Salcedo of Elkhart. He is currently in a Tyler hospital after receiving a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, officers were dispatched to Lorena's home at 410 E. Parker Street in Elkhart around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Before authorities arrived, Victor illegally entered Lorena's home, bound her and held her against her will before killing her. When officers arrived at the residence, they found Lorena's body and Victor lying face down on the floor of the home but still breathing.

An autopsy is being performed on Lorena's body Thursday in Tyler.

Victor remains in a Tyler hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. Bond for Victor's capital murder charge has been set at $500,000.
