LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Goodwill of Lufkin's YouthBuild program is looking for young people ages 18 to 24 who are interested in transforming their lives through education and training.
The program is aimed at providing low-income or at-risk youth or those who want more education with the opportunity to learn a trade, get their GED, build leadership, earn certificates all while receiving a monetary stipend for their work.
YouthBuild program director, Nikki Roberts says enrollment is open and they need more applicants.
"The main criteria for me is someone who is willing to and wanting to transform and change their life. If they want to be on the path of doing something positive outside of what they were doing or if they're being lethargic and not doing anything if they want to be proactive and productive that's the applicant that I want," said Roberts.
Roberts says the program is a win-win for all those who are willing to put in the hard work because they can work towards their basic education, get construction credentials that are recognized across the nation, get paid via a stipend and other incentives.
Roberts encourages those 18-24 interested in learning more about the program to stop by the Goodwill offices at 301 Hill Street, Lufkin, TX or cal 936-632-8838
