Huntington softball player signs to play in college: 'I'm very blessed'

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - There was a big crowd in the Huntington High School common area as Maddison Graham signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Weatherford College.

Graham has been a outfielder for the Devilettes throughout her entire softball career at Huntington.

Hudson Head Softball Coach, Ruth Wright, describes Graham as a speedy player that's exciting to watch.

"When she's in the outfield, there are some hits you don't expect her to get to and before you know it, she's diving for the catch," said Coach Wright.

Coach Wright also said she isn't surprised to see Graham make it to the next level in her softball career.

"Her work ethic, determination, and the hours that she's put in have really made a difference. That's what it takes to go onto the next level," said Coach Wright.

"I feel so blessed and accomplished. It's an amazing feeling being able to sign my letter of intent. I can't describe it," said Graham. "I'm glad I'm able to continue my career because I love the sport so much."

Graham is quick to acknowledge her coach for her role and helping her be successful.

"Coach Wright has been my coach for a long time. She's taught me so much about softball and about life," said Graham. "I'll take that with me and apply it."

Graham was a part of the State Semi-Finalists Huntington softball team in 2011. She has had playoff experience in every season she been on the team.
