LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to post new lower speed limit signs on FM 3123 in southern Angelina County. The change comes as a result of a recent speed zone study done on the roadway, and support from Angelina County officials. These changes should help improve safety through this area.
The speed limit will be reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph on the entire .760 mile length of FM 3123 to the intersection of SH 147. The new speed limits takes affect once TxDOT crews install the signs next week, weather permitting.
Motorists are warned to abide by the posted speed limits and other traffic control devices on these and all roadways. TxDOT would like to also remind drivers that observing the posted speed also means driving to conditions. Speeds should be reduced accordingly to account for fog, rain, icy roads, and construction or during heavy traffic.
