The city of Grapeland is mourning the loss of a long time resident. City Councilman Daniel Lumbreraz. Lumbreraz was a graduate of Graplend High School back in 1971. He had been fighting colon cancer.

Lumbreraz was appointed to the council in January of 2013.

""We were in school together and played football together," Mayor George Pierson said. "We had a team relationship on the council. He brought a lot to the council, and had creative ways to fix past problems."

Lumbreraz was also involved with the Grapeland Little League.

Funeral services will be held Monday at Grapeland first Baptist Church at 10 a.m.
