TxDOT crews on standby ready to help with weather situations

Posted: Updated:
ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Texas Department of Public Safety road crews are already on standby for the winter weather expected overnight.

A TxDOT spokesperson says trucks are loaded with rock and ready to be deployed as situations arise.

Officials are closely monitoring weather reports and will have crews out watching the roads through the weather event to make calls about whether or not closures or places that need de-icing.

TxDOT Public Information Officer, Kathi White said, "I think the main message that motorists need to know is that when it get icy you need to get off the roads and if we say stay off the roads you really need to stay off the roads and I think a lot of motorists found that to be true in this last situation."
