The north- and southbound connector bridges at Loop 287 in Lufkin are open to traffic again, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The bridges were closed at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday due to icy conditions.
TxDOT crews spent three hours removing ice from the bridges, so they could return to normal traffic flow.
"Although there is still some ice on roadways around the district, all roads are open to traffic," said Kathi White, a spokeswoman for TxTDOT. "Crews have ceased treating most areas with rock. Motorists are reminded to use continued caution as the ice melts."
Caution advised on SH 21 Pendleton Bridge and FM 3315 to Newton County line in Sabine County.
