Lufkin -

Tuesday night was the 94th annual Angelina Chamber of Commerce Banquet held in downtown Lufkin.

The event was highlighted by honoring those who gave back to the community.

Jack and Mary Joe Gorden were awarded the Angelina Award for their various individual contributions to area organizations over their lifetime.

The Temple Foundation was awarded the Golden Anvil for the recent purchase and conservation of Boggy Slough.

The Chamber also honored it's top volunteer Susan Robertson from the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

"Angelina County and Lufkin is such a giving community," outgoing president Sid Roberts said. "Philanthropy is part of our nature and it is encouraging to us that work in the trenches to see others recognized for their great contributions."

The night also saw Roberts hand over the position of Chamber President to Casey Robertson of Woodland Heights Medical Center.
