Chamber honors several residents at annual banquet

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Tuesday night was the 94th annual AngelinaChamber of Commerce Banquet held in downtown Lufkin.

The event was highlighted by honoring those who gave back tothe community.

Jack and Mary Joe Gorden were awarded the Angelina Award fortheir various individual contributions to area organizations over their lifetime.

The Temple Foundation was awarded the Golden Anvil for therecent purchase and conservation of Boggy Slough.

The Chamber also honored it's top volunteer Susan Robertsonfrom the Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

"Angelina County and Lufkin is such agiving community," outgoing president Sid Roberts said. "Philanthropy is partof our nature and it is encouraging to us that work in the trenches to seeothers recognized for their great contributions."

The night also saw Roberts hand over the position of ChamberPresident to Casey Robertson of Woodland Heights Medical Center.
