LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested one of three suspects in a home invasion robbery that allegedly occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of Esther Boulevard early Tuesday morning after they chased him down in a short pursuit.
Jacarlos Leroy Mark is still being held in the Angelina county Jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery. No bail has been set at this time.
According to the police report, the home invasion occurred at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday. The four men who share the residence told police that they were woken up by three men armed with handguns.
The suspects stole three mobile telephones and ran from the residence.
"No injuries were reported, and I am not aware of any other property being taken," said Detective J.B. Smith, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department.
An LPD officer happened to be near the residence when the incident occurred because a neighbor called 911 to report suspicious activity. The neighbor told the 911 dispatcher that he or she had seen flashing lights, possibly flashlights, inside the victims' residence.
While the officer was talking to the neighbor, one of the victims ran out of the house and yelled that the suspects were fleeing toward an apartment complex in the 1200 block of East Denman Avenue. The officer gave chase and captured Mark at the apartment complex.
Although the other suspects weren't caught, but investigating officers located the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery and are tracking down leads on the other suspects' identities.
The police report did not specify the relationship between Mark and the victims. However, one victim reported that Mark visited the residence before the robbery and left the home about 15 minutes before the incident occurred.
