Baseball season is near and the Southland Conference has already announced players to look out for.
Lumberjacks Senior Ricardo Sanchez is one of those players, and was named to the first-team preseason all-conference.
Sanchez was named to the second-team All-SLC last year.
He is SFA's top returning hitter after recording a .358 batting average last season.
The outfielder was also the team leader in hits with 63 and had 3 home runs.
Head coach Johnny Cardenas says it's Sanchez's hard work that's being noticed.
"The work that he puts in on a daily basis is really good work," said Cardenas. "He's really been a guy that's set a standard here on what to do and how to prepare yourself. Everything that he gets is definitely warranted."
Sanchez couldn't agree more with Cardenas about the hard work his put in the past 4 years.
"It's a blessing to make this team. It's good to know all the hard work I put in really paid off," said Sanchez. "I didn't make this as a goal this is preseason. I'm just looking forward to the rest of the season."
Sanchez and his fellow Lumberjacks will put their hard work to the test, when they travel for their first game of the season February 14th against UT Arlington.
