Freedom Fighters: Jack Lanier

Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Jack Lanier was on his way home from his first tour of duty in the Middle East on September 11, 2001.

When his plane landed, it was immediately put in lock down since it was flying in near the Pentagon attack.  He was sent back to the Middle East four years later, assigned to intelligence.

Lanier's experience in paramedics, fire fighting, and law enforcement made him uniquely qualified for a job that is still considered as "classified."

In 2005, Lanier returned to his job with the Longview Police Force and retired in 2012. He is writing a book about his forty years in public safety called "Always a Sergeant."
